The January Decision

Close-up of a January calendar with a red pushpin marking the first week of the new year, symbolizing reflection, resolutions, and major life decisions like divorce.

The holidays are over. The gifts have been purchased. The end of year bonuses received. The family visits have come and gone. And now you have the biggest decision of your life to make.

Do I see a Divorce Attorney?

This is no simple decision, and it is why we offer a free consultation to our perspective clients. If you walk in the door looking for answers, we can provide them, however, after over 20 years in the business I can honestly say that I know if you will move forward within five minutes.

How is this?

I can tell if you’ve done your research. I can assess if you have a plan by the questions you ask. I can see in your eyes if this is a decision you have been considering for a while. And most importantly, you have shared this decision with others in your close circle. Verbal discussion is almost a sure sign you have made a choice for your future happiness.

There will be plenty of articles, perhaps even in this month’s magazine, on what you need to do to prepare your finances. How to consider division of both property and custody arrangements. There are articles abound on support groups and how to move forward after a divorce. I have written several of these articles myself. This article, however, is not to talk about how January is known as, ‘Divorce Month’ across the nation. It is about taking the first step, where to go and how to make the right choice for you.

Finding a Divorce Attorney that understands not only your needs, your financial well-being and your personal situation, one that allows meeting flexibly and immediate access if needed. You are making one of the most important decisions of your life and having the right person by your side is the second most important decisions. Do your research. Ask your friends for recommendations. Utilize free consultations and meet the Attorney face to face.

I cannot deny the fact that many Attorney’s do not offer a free consultation. This is out of fear of what is referred to as ‘lookey loos’, people coming in for free information and assurance. While there is absolutely and there is a cost to this time and information for an Attorney, I believe this is part of what I do, and will not deny people the right to meet with me for one of the most personal choices in their future. I am here to give my clients the necessary satisfaction of knowing I am the right person for the them.

This next step is a big decision. We wish you joy and happiness in 2018, and our doors are open to those ready for the next big step in their life.
