Anabelle Espe has been with the Law Offices of Steven B. Chroman, P.C. since 2004, bringing over 20 years of legal experience to the firm. She is an American Bar Association–approved certificated paralegal. Prior to her legal career, Mrs. Espe spent 11 years working in accounting and human resources, providing her with a strong foundation in financial and administrative operations.
Mrs. Espe oversees all aspects of case management and litigation support, serving as a key operational leader within the firm. She is responsible for the preparation and oversight of complex legal documents, including pleadings, disclosures, discovery, subpoenas, depositions, affidavits, motions, stipulations and orders, restraining orders, support orders, and final judgments. She also directs the development of settlement agreements, property-related filings, attorney’s fees requests, and document production demands, ensuring precision, compliance, and strategic alignment with each case.
She plays an integral role in trial preparation and execution, managing the development of settlement and trial briefs, exhibit and witness lists, declarations, and final disclosures. Mrs. Espe collaborates closely with attorneys on case strategy, including support with opening and closing arguments, and leads coordination efforts for meet-and-confer proceedings and mediation.
In her legal capacity, Mrs. Espe conducts in-depth legal research, analyzes and synthesizes case law, and interprets statutes, rulings, and regulations to support effective advocacy. She serves as a primary point of contact for clients, guiding them through the legal process with clarity, responsiveness, and a strong commitment to client care.
Beyond her legal responsibilities, Mrs. Espe provides executive-level oversight of firm operations. She directs case workflow, calendaring, and file management systems, and ensures the integrity of legal databases and tracking platforms. She also supervises staff and oversees human resources and payroll functions, fostering an organized and efficient work environment.
Mrs. Espe manages both front- and back-office operations, including accounts payable and receivable, billing, and collections, contributing to the firm’s overall financial health and operational stability. Her leadership is defined by efficiency, attention to detail, and a dedication to delivering high-quality, cost-effective legal services.
Outside of her professional work, Mrs. Espe is an avid volunteer. She has served several years on the Board of Directors for a non-profit international organization, Soroptimist International of Valencia, whose goal is to support and improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. In addition, she has volunteered her time as a room parent at local school, functioned for many years as an executive board member for the National Parent Teacher Association, served on the Booster Club and as a team parent for the girls volleyball team at Valencia High School and the Los Angeles Volleyball Association, operated as a Certified District Approved Chaperone for the William H. Hart School District, as well as spent time working with seniors at SCV Senior Center and various youth groups in Santa Clarita Valley.
